Back in October, 2020.

Dear President Trump,

My name is Humberto Campos Mireles, father to a 1-year old boy, and husband to a beautiful young woman born in Chiapas, Mexico. We’re expecting our second son’s arrival 3 months from now.

I write this letter to thank & congratulate you on the successful implementation of several strategic policies that will benefit all Americans for many years to come.

Also, in order to combat the overwhelming amount of disinformation surrounding the work of your administration in Spanish-speaking news media such as Univision, I’m requesting the opportunity to speak with you briefly prior to Election Day.

Specifically, I would like to share a proposition for your 2020–2024 Immigration Platform. As you have said many times during your first term and prior to serving in public office, Hispanic Americans have been & will continue to be essential contributors to American greatness. My goal is to begin the process of discourse for the inclusion of many great individuals, who may not yet be American in writing, are very American in spirit.

Before I elaborate, I’d like to contextualize the current living conditions from within my predominantly Hispanic & Black neighborhood in Pacoima, CA.

As you know, the Dictatorial Duo of Gavin Newsom & Eric Garcetti have abused their authority & taken advantage of the great people of California.
The sharp rise in violent crimes stemming from their lockdown orders has led to residents living in a perpetual state of frustration, anxiety & fear. This is further exacerbated by the constant disinformation on local cable news.

As a supporter of your administration, skeptic of the GOP Establishment, & proud anti-Democrat, I firmly believe that this election can be a rare turning point for the community I’ve called home for several years. Many residents who work tirelessly towards the American Dream every day truly value the economic stability brought back during your time in office. However, because many of them can’t vote, they don’t find it beneficial to contribute their perspectives & insights to civil discourse during election cycles. This might be our community’s core dilemma.

The wealth of wisdom that accumulates only from lived experience isn’t being preserved as it properly deserves. This is best done through the transcription of this wisdom onto the local representative government through the electoral process. Without working to address this fundamental issue, I worry that there will never be a genuinely representative government in California. Furthermore, the people’s future will continue to be at the mercy of cowardly selfish leaders who wantonly sell it out to the highest bidding foreign government.

Given our elected official’s blatant disregard for the future of the children of California & their promoting of extremely radical ideas which go against the people’s core values, I would appreciate your thoughts on the following proposition:

- If a radicalized “activist” is arrested for committing hostile acts of violence against the people of the United States,
- if demonstrably proven in a court of Law to be affiliated with Marxist/Communist groups deliberately working to subvert our great country from within,
- If this individual is a U.S Citizen
- This action should be considered a de facto “Renunciation of Citizenship” as understood under Sec. 349. [8 U.S.C. 1481]
- Specifically, the “conviction for an act of treason against the Government of the United States or for attempting by force to overthrow, or bear arms against, the Government of the United States” (Sec. 349 (a) (7) INA) should be ameliorated by a 1:1 granting of Lawful Permanent Resident status to one of the many deserving hard-working, tax-paying & law-abiding immigrants who have dedicated their lives to the pursuit of the American Dream.

It is a shame that so many individuals born in the greatest country that the world has ever known have taken America for granted.
Worse, they’ve allowed themselves to become radicalized against their own best interests by shamelessly degrading the founding principles of the country that so many great men and women gave their lives for.

During this critical time in our nation’s history, I have witnessed the stoic resolve of family members & neighbors, whom in spite of lacking legal status, demonstrate the embodiment of American ideals day after day.

Many of my community came to California from Michoacán, Mexico, where hard honest work is the noblest form of earning a living. The thought of depending on government handouts when one is capable of working is considered sinful. These shared values & religious principles have unfortunately been lost in translation, and I hope that by engaging in open discussion we can begin the necessary work to make California great again, and I’ll add… greater than ever before.

Best,
Humberto Campos Mireles
